Ogilvie Transportation Center Connection (C1)
Design Objective: Create a weather protected pedestrian passageway directly connecting the Union Station Concourse to Ogilvie Transportation Center. Union Station and Ogilvie Transportation Center are separated by only a few blocks, but lack a physical connection for commuters and visitors. The lack of a weather-protected connection between these neighboring stations makes seamless transfers and connections difficult, especially during inclement weather. This improvement project will develop several alternatives for a direct physical connection, potentially utilizing an existing unused corridor below the street adjacent to Track 1.
CTA Blue Line Clinton Station Connection (C2)
Design Objective: Create a weather protected pedestrian passageway directly connecting the Union Station Concourse to the CTA Clinton Blue Line Station. Similar to Ogilvie, the CTA Clinton Station is only a few blocks from the Union Station Concourse yet lacks a direct physical connection. Several alternatives will be developed to create a weather protected passageway that would connect to the CTA station near the intersection of Clinton and Congress Parkway. One alternative will explore the feasibility of extending and enhancing an existing pedestrian passageway adjacent to Track 2, under Canal Street.
